Privat24 users will be among the first in Ukraine to be able to receive digital fiscal receipts for purchases in leading retail chains directly in the mobile banking application. PrivatBank has become a partner of the new state digital receipt service - eCheck (єЧек). The pilot program of the service started on February 18, 2025, for PrivatBank clients in the Aurora, Fora, Auchan retail chains, as well as at Ukrnafta gas stations.
“PrivatBank is one of the first to implement innovative solutions that make financial services simpler and more convenient for clients. The launch of the eCheck program is an important step towards fully digital payments in the country, which allows entrepreneurs to reduce the cost of paper receipts, optimize operational processes, and comply with modern service standards. We invite all our business clients and entrepreneurs to join the open pilot testing of eCheck: participation in the program will help businesses prepare in advance for the full use of digital receipts and switch to a more effective, modern operating model,” said Dmytro Musienko, PrivatBank Board Member for Retail Business.
eCheck is digital access to a fiscal receipt after paying by card in a store or online. The cash receipt is still fiscalized by the seller and stored in the state accounting system, and the buyer sees it in Privat24. During the pilot stage of the project, two forms of receipts will be available to users — paper and digital.
For buyers, eCheck means convenient access to the receipt without the risk of losing it – for returns, warranties, and expense control. For sellers, it means reduced costs for paper, printing, and cash register maintenance. Ukrainian businesses and entrepreneurs will be able to connect to eCheck by submitting an application to join the program, receiving instructions for setting up the RRO/PRRO, and instructing personnel.
“We are launching eCheck in real-world conditions – in large retail chains, at gas stations, and together with banks that millions of people use every day. The pilot allows us to test the service in practice and prepare it for scaling. Why are we doing this? Every year, businesses spend millions of hryvnias on printing receipts. Furthermore, the thermal paper on which they are printed usually contains bisphenols, which are not recyclable,” said Oleksiy Sobolev, Minister of Economy, Environment, and Agriculture of Ukraine.
Mastercard is a partner in the pilot launch. “We are convinced that increasing transaction transparency significantly improves the user experience of digital channels, including banking channels, and helps users feel maximum confidence and control over their expenses. Thanks to eCheck, banks will also be able to improve digital interaction with their clients, and merchants will reduce operational costs for printing receipts and strengthen the practice of environmentally responsible business. We at Mastercard are happy to provide our technological expertise, operational support, and contribute to the further scaling of the digital receipt at the national level,” said Inga Andreeva, General Director of Mastercard in Ukraine and Moldova.
The eCheck program is being implemented by the Ministry of Economy, Environment, and Agriculture of Ukraine in cooperation with the Ministry of Digital Transformation of Ukraine, the Ministry of Finance of Ukraine, the State Tax Service of Ukraine, and the National Bank of Ukraine with the support of Mastercard.
