What is IBAN for?

International account numbers are necessary to effectively process the cross-border SWIFT payments. Using IBAN reduces payment delays and helps simplify and reduce the cost for processing and settlement with other countries.

How are SWIFT wire transfers credited?

The funds are credited to the beneficiary's account at the details selected by the paying client (account or an IBAN).

If previously you had been received SWIFT transfers (before August 05, 2019), then you can get updated IBAN details from the bank.

Please note! You also can receive SWIFT transfers using old details.

Can a card number be indicated in IBAN?

Yes. The IBAN number can include both the card number and the card account starting with 2620.

Why the account number 2620, not the card number is indicated in the IBAN?

Account starting with 2620 is the account number for your card. Upon receipt of a transfer, money is crediting to your card.

What does the IBAN look like?

The account number (IBAN) consists of 29 symbols. Conventionally, they are divided into two groups. The first 10 digits are the country code, check digit and a bank code. The first two letters – UA – are the code of Ukraine. The two symbols after the code are the check digits, they are for the account authenticity verification and for the protection of information against errors in the course of the data entering. The following six digits are the MFI code of the bank.

The second group of symbols (19 digits) are the customer’s bank account number. The first five zeros, as a rule, complete the IBAN to 29 symbols, and 14 digits are the card account number.

Where to find my IBAN?

In the Privat24 application, click on the card you need. The IBAN will be in its details. It is also indicated in your contract signed with the bank.

Is IBAN the same as the card number?

No it is not. The card number (16 digits) is needed for payments in stores and on the internet. The IBAN is needed for receiving money specifically to your bank account. Several cards can be linked to one IBAN.

What data should I provide to make a money transfer?

For transfers in Ukraine, you only need to provide your IBAN and full name.

Is it safe to pass my IBAN to someone else?

Yes it is. Your IBAN is used only for sending money. It does not give access to your account or money withdrawal. It is like sharing your mailing address.

What should I do if I have made a mistake when entering the IBAN?

The payment simply will not pass. The system checks the IBAN and blocks the transaction if the number is incorrect. However, if the payment has passed to another account, you should immediately contact the support service of the bank.

Does the IBAN change when a card is re-issued?

No it does not. The IBAN is linked to your bank account, not to a plastic card. The IBAN will stay the same even when the card is re-issued.
