PrivatBank and the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) signed a mandate letter to launch a new unfunded risk-sharing facility with a total volume of up to EUR 825 million.

The facility will be aimed at scaling up lending to Ukraine’s private sector, supporting business liquidity and financing of investment projects.

Under the project, the EBRD will cover part of the credit risk on new sub-loans to be provided by PrivatBank to Ukrainian companies.

“This facility will enable the Bank to increase lending volumes and more actively finance priority segments of the economy even in the context of war-related risks. We highly value the EBRD’s support to Ukrainian business. Over recent years, this cooperation has already enabled access to more than one billion Euro in financing for businesses. We expect to sign the agreement on this record breaking risk-sharing facility with the EBRD in the coming months”, said Yevhen Zaihraiev, Member of the Management Board of PrivatBank responsible for Corporate Banking and SME Business.

The new facility is expected to include two key financing windows:

  • up to EUR 692 million under the EBRD’s Resilience and Livelihood Framework (RLF), aimed at financing working capital and investment needs of enterprises;
  • up to EUR 133 million under the EU4Business-EBRD Credit Line, focused on long-term investment financing for micro, small and medium-sized enterprises (MSMEs).

The financing will focus on modernisation and alignment of Ukrainian businesses with European Union standards. At least 70% of the originated portfolio will be allocated to “green” investments.

In addition to access to financing for investment projects, eligible enterprises will also be able to receive investment incentives in the form of grants.

Priority support will be provided to war-affected businesses, including companies whose assets were damaged or destroyed as a result of the war, enterprises owned, led or employing war veterans, businesses supporting the reintegration of internally displaced persons and persons with disabilities, as well as women-led and youth-led companies.

Overall, during 2025, 12.1 thousand SME clients received loans totalling UAH 24.5 billion under international lending programmes that PrivatBank launched jointly with various IFI’s with support of various donors.
