PrivatBank and Mastercard, in partnership with the Ministry of Culture of Ukraine, have launched a strategic collaboration aimed at developing digital payment technologies at historical and cultural sites in Ukraine. The first initiative within this cooperation was the launch of a self-service terminal at the Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra National Reserve. Visitors can now pay for admission to the complex and for exhibition tours contactlessly—using both a physical payment card and a smartphone or other NFC-enabled device.
Overall, the collaboration envisages the introduction of modern payment and accounting infrastructure at cultural heritage sites. This includes the possibility of contactless payment for visits, the popularization of cashless payments, and the creation of a transparent system for real-time visitor accounting.
“The Ministry of Culture of Ukraine aims for digital solutions to ensure transparent accounting and effective preservation of cultural heritage. The project at the Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra National Reserve is the beginning of a large-scale transformation that we plan to extend to other museums and reserves across the country to simplify visitors’ access to culture,” noted Anastasiia Bondar, Deputy Minister of Culture of Ukraine for Digital Development, Digital Transformations, and Digitalization.
“Ukraine’s cultural heritage deserves the best digital solutions, which is why, together with colleagues from Mastercard and the Ministry of Culture, we are launching a large-scale project to digitalize monuments,” says Serhiy Makarenko, Head of the Acquiring Department at PrivatBank. “Our goal is to make access to culture as simple, technological, and convenient as possible for every visitor. We want a trip to a museum to be as easy as paying with a card or phone in the metro or a coffee shop.”
“Mastercard has implemented dozens of smart city projects in Ukraine, integrating convenient contactless payments into urban infrastructure—public transport, recreation, and leisure areas. We are pleased to strengthen cooperation with our partners to modernize payment and ticketing solutions at historical and cultural sites, which is one of the steps in implementing the memorandum with the Ministry of Culture,” adds Inga Andreeva, General Manager of Mastercard in Ukraine and Moldova.
The project is oriented toward both domestic visitors and foreign tourists and also takes into account the growing popularity of using contactless payment technologies, particularly mobile wallets. Following the successful implementation of the pilot at Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra, the partnership plans to scale the initiative to other museums and reserves across Ukraine.-----Would you like me to summarize this text or create a brief post based on it?
