At the beginning of May, 5-year-old Nazarchik found a lighter that his neighbor had left unattended. The boy took it to play with, and his t-shirt instantly caught fire. By the time his parents reacted, the child already had deep burns on his arms and body, as he had instinctively tried to put out the flames himself. His father took him to the nearest medical center, from where he was transferred the next day to the burn unit of the Kyiv Children's Hospital. 38% of Nazar's skin has deep burns. Within one month, the child has already undergone 7 surgeries under general anesthesia and dozens of dressing changes. Today, he continues his treatment and works with a physical therapist to be able to play with his favorite—safe—toys again.

This is one of dozens of cases that Lesia Yevhenivna Strilka, head of the burn unit and a combustiologist at the Kyiv City Children's Hospital No. 1, can talk about for hours. “Thanks to the electrosurgical unit donated by PrivatBank, we can simultaneously perform reconstructive surgeries on two areas at once with minimal trauma to surrounding tissues. For patients like Nazarchik, this significantly speeds up postoperative recovery and reduces the total number of reconstructive surgeries.”

In the first half of 2026, PrivatBank provided assistance to 29 referral hospitals in various regions of Ukraine totaling nearly 80.5 million UAH, of which 73 million was contributed by PrivatBank. Hospitals received nearly 200 units of critically important medical equipment, consumables, and medical furniture. This includes surgical, resuscitation, diagnostic, laboratory, and rehabilitation equipment, as well as inclusive medical furniture designed for people with disabilities.
