On September 24, the Veteran Care Space was opened in Zaporizhzhia — a support location for veterans, male and female service members, and their families. This is the first such space in Zaporizhzhia region.
With financial support from PrivatBank, the premises for the Space were renovated and specialists' workplaces were equipped. Special attention was paid to accessibility — not only of the Space itself, but also of the route leading to it, to ensure the service is accessible to everyone.
At the Space, visitors can receive information and support regarding treatment, rehabilitation, as well as state and banking services. A specialist supporting war veterans and demobilized persons engages other profile specialists as needed.
In particular, PrivatBank's Inclusive Service Unit will operate directly within the Space. This mobile banking service format allows resolving financial issues without visiting branches: opening accounts, issuing or reissuing cards, updating personal data, and receiving consultations on banking products. All specialists of the Service Unit have undergone specialized training in trauma-informed communication and understanding the needs of military personnel.
The "Veteran Care Spaces" project is implemented by the Ministry of Veterans Affairs and the Ministry of Health of Ukraine in partnership with the NGO "Union of Veterans and Wounded Military 'Mitzni 300'" funded by PrivatBank and with operational support from the International Renaissance Foundation.
"We are changing the very approach to veteran policy: it shouldn't be the person searching for where and how to get help, but the system should be next to them. A Care Space in a medical facility is an opportunity to receive guidance, navigate paperwork, social guarantees, rehabilitation, and other issues right during treatment or recovery. For us, it is important to build a simple and clear veteran journey and scale such a model across the country," noted Minister for Veterans Affairs of Ukraine Vitaliy Kim.
"It is extremely important that in Zaporizhzhia this initiative reinforces the existing municipal veteran support system, in particular our cooperation with the city council within the 'I am a Veteran' service," emphasized Andriy Drach, Director of the South-Eastern Macro-Regional Directorate of PrivatBank. "Creating 'Care Spaces' is our gratitude to defenders. We strive to provide them with the most comfortable conditions and comprehensive support during preparation and adaptation to civilian life."
Zaporizhzhia has become the fourth project location in cooperation with PrivatBank: previously, Veteran Care Spaces were opened in Odesa, Ukrainka in Kyiv region, and Poltava. Going forward, the team plans to open Spaces in other regions of Ukraine so that necessary support is available to veterans and service members directly during recovery.
